KU softball falls to South Florida

? Kansas University managed just one hit in a 6-0 softball loss to South Florida in the final game of the USF tournament on Sunday.

Shannon McGinley, hitting second in the batting order, singled in the top of the first, and Daniella Chavez drew a walk, but South Florida (7-8) escaped the early jam and was never really threatened.

“Well, this game was disappointing. On the last day of the weekend, we come out flat, and the last three weekends in a row we’ve done that,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “We really challenged them to make an adjustment today to do something different, but we didn’t, so we will go back to the drawing board and figure out how to fix that part of it.”

Kansas (7-8) will play Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Illinois Tournament.
