Roberts, Piper named all-state

Lawrence High senior basketball standout Justin Roberts and Free State High junior Madison Piper were both selected first-team all-state in Class 6A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association on Monday.

Along with the all-state honor, Roberts was picked to play in the KBCA all-star game, which will be played on June 25 at Kansas Wesleyan.

Free State senior Hunter Gudde was a boys second-team all-state selection in 6A, Bishop Seabury junior Mikey Wycoff earned second-team honors in 2A, and LHS sophomore E’lease Stafford received an honorable mention for the girls team.

Among area players, Mill Valley senior Logan Koch was a boys first-team all-state pick in 5A, and senior Clayton Holmberg was given an honorable mention. Eudora senior Austin Downing and Ottawa junior Isaac McCullough earned honorable mentions in 4A-I,

Mill Valley senior Catie Kaifes was named to the 5A girls first-team, Baldwin High senior Kyna Smith was placed on the second team in 4A-II, and De Soto sophomore Mariah Grizzle picked up an honorable mention in 4A-I.
