Manhattan ? The Kansas University women’s golf team is tied for seventh with Arkansas-Little Rock at the end of day one of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. Through one and a half rounds, Kansas has shot 33-over (21) and remains 26 strokes behind first-place SMU. Although two rounds were scheduled to be played Monday, weather conditions caused the competition to be suspended midway through the second round.

Kansas senior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn leads the Jayhawks after shooting even par on the day, good enough to be tied for third in the 69-golfer field. She is followed by freshman Ariadna Fonseca who finished plus-7 on the day. KU sophomores Pitsinee Winyarat and MacKenzie Sexe are both tied for 49th place after shooting 14-over. Sophomore Kallie Gonzales rounds out the Kansas lineup at 17-over. Individuals Laine Evans and Victoria Chandra both are tied for 27th place after shooting 9-over.

Kawinpakorn looks to continue KU’s two-year streak of winning the individual championship at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational.
