KPR comes up short of goal for fall fundraising drive

Kansas University-based Kansas Public Radio fell short of its fall fundraising goal this year.

KPR raised $226,000 in pledges during its fall membership drive, about $24,000 short of its $250,000 goal, KU said in a news release this week.

“We faced many obstacles in this drive,” Feloniz Lovato-Winston, KPR development director, said in the news release. “There was beautiful weather, the Royals played several day games while we were fundraising, and there was a lot more competition for listeners’ attention. We’ll look for alternative ways to make up the shortfall.”

Although the on-air portion of the drive is over, listeners can donate anytime via the KPR website, kansaspublicradio.org.

The fall membership drive started Oct. 13 with more than $89,000 raised through direct mail, according to KU. The eight-day on-air portion of the drive raised another $137,000 before wrapping up on Friday.
