Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center receives $50,000 grant

The organization formerly known as GaDuGi SafeCenter has received a nearly $51,000 grant, the Kansas Attorney General’s Office announced in a news release Monday.

The Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center will receive $50,914 to offer sexual violence prevention training and to expand its community education efforts, the release said.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in the release that his office is “pleased to support the Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center” in its efforts to prevent sex crimes.

“Reducing sexual violence is an important focus for law enforcement, particularly in our college communities,” Schmidt said.

The grant is part of the federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grant program and was awarded by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, of which Schmidt is the chairman.
