Flash flood watch issued for Douglas County through Monday

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a flash flood watch for Douglas County in effect through Monday morning.

Periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected to pass through the area starting Saturday night and lasting through Sunday afternoon, with 2 to 4 inches of rain expected and over 5 inches possible throughout northeast Kansas.

Residents are advised to be ready for quick action if flooding threatens.

Jefferson County Fire District No. 3 has reported some flooding on the highway at the junction of US Highways 24 and 59 about three and a half miles east of Perry. Drivers are asked to proceed with caution Saturday night and throughout the weekend.
