40 years ago: Hearings to be held on proposed nuclear power plant

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 19, 1975:

The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was planning preliminary hearings in Lawrence next week on the licensing of a nuclear power plant near Burlington. The proposed plant, to be located three miles northeast of Burlington, was to be built by Kansas Gas and Electric Co. and Kansas City Power and Light Co. The consumer protection division of the Kansas attorney general’s office, Mid American Coalition for Energy Alternatives (MACIA), Kansas City, and Wolf Creek Nuclear Opposition Inc., an organization of landowners in the area around the proposed plant, were all listed as intervenors.
