Vaulter fundraiser: Jordan Scott, a former Kansas University pole vaulter now training in Lawrence, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance his quest to compete in the 2016 Olympics. Basketball camp: The Lawrence High Lady Lion basketball program will offer two summer camps for all girls interested in playing basketball. Session 1, for incoming freshmen through incoming seniors, will run 8-11:30 a.m. June 1-5. Cost is $65, which includes T-shirt and insurance. Team camp will be at Liberty Memorial Middle School. Golf fundraiser: The Kansas Athletics Golf Classic supporting Douglas County Special Olympics will be June 15 at the Lawrence Country Club. Youth CrossFit camp: A Jayhawker CrossFit youth camp for youths aged 12-18 will be held 2-3:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays in June ($155) and July ($175). Both months together cost $300. The camp will consist of body-weight and odd-object movements, while also focusing on proper mobility work and conditioning to give young athletes a better foundation to progress in their sport and be more healthy all around. KU football camps: Kansas University will hold several football camps for students in grades 9 through junior college next month. KU women’s camps: New Kansas University women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider will hold four camps this summer. They are the Elite Camp (June 5-7), Individual Camp (June 21-23), Jayhawk Team Jamboree (June 27) and two sessions of the Junior Jayhawk Camp (June 29-July 2 and July 20-23). Schneider and his staff and current and former Jayhawks will be involved in instruction and supervision. The Future Lions Clinic (boys and girls in grades 6-8 who plan to attend LHS) will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 9-July 23. FSHS boys basketball camp: Free State High’s boys basketball will hold camps this summer. FSHS coaches and players will serve as coaches. Jayhawk Model Masters: The Jayhawk Model Masters are providing a free air show on May 16 at the model airplane field below Clinton dam. The R/C air show will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The airshow features all electric airplanes in all sizes, including giant scale. Concessions and facilities are on site. Spectators are appreciated.
