Benefit for senior services agency set for Saturday

The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging this weekend will host its “There’s No Place Like Home” dance, which benefits its Guardian Angel Fund.

The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Great Overland Station, 701 N. Kansas Ave., in Topeka. Tickets can be purchased by calling JAAA at 785-235-1367.

The JAAA administers and coordinates services for older adults in Douglas, Jefferson and Shawnee counties. The Guardian Angel Fund helps seniors with various needs, such as transportation, health care costs and home improvement.

Honored guests at the event will include Beverly and Don Gardner, of Lawrence, who are known for managing the Red Dog’s Dog Days exercise program.

Proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction will go toward the Guardian Angel Fund. The auction will include Kansas City Royals tickets, a basketball signed by Bill Self, a football signed by Bill Snyder, plus other items.
