Teen sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for sex crimes

A Yuma, Ariz., teenager who pleaded no contest to three sex crimes in Douglas County District Court last year was sentenced Friday to 7 ½ years in prison, according to court records.

Antonio Yibran Martinez-Lopez

Originally charged with a dozen crimes including multiple counts of rape, Antonio Yibran Martinez-Lopez pleaded guilty in June 2014 to attempted rape, aggravated sexual battery and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child. Prosecutors alleged the crimes occurred before his 18th birthday and involved girls ages 16 and 13.

In April 2014, Douglas County District Judge Kay Huff ruled that Martinez-Lopez met the criteria to be tried as an adult.

Huff sentenced Martinez-Lopez on Friday to 59 months in prison for the attempted rape charge, and 32 months in prison each for the aggravated sexual battery and aggravated indecent solicitation charges, according to court records.

Martinez-Lopez will serve the 32-month sentences at the same time, leaving his total sentence at 91 months in prison, according to court records. He has been in the Douglas County Jail since November 2013.
