Kansas baseball upends Michigan

Owen Taylor went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs, Drew Morovick allowed just two runs over five innings, and Kansas University doubled up Michigan, 8-4, to wrap up their nonconference baseball series Sunday at Hoglund Ballpark.

The victory was the 400th at KU for coach Ritch Price.

“The biggest thing that happened today was that (senior righty) Drew Morovick went out on the mound and gave us five great innings,” Price said. “If he doesn’t take the ball today and hold them to two runs in five innings, we probably get beat.”

It was the first start in over two weeks for Morovick, who was backed by 14 hits.

“Our players swung the bats well and took advantage of scoring opportunities,” Price said.

Michigan fell to 11-8.

Kansas (8-12) will host Iowa in a three-game set starting Friday at Hoglund Ballpark.
