Roadwork: Construction planned this week

Lawrence:

• Construction work will be performed Monday under Sixth Street on McDonald Drive. McDonald Drive under Sixth Street will be closed at times between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to perform the work. McDonald Drive will be opened back up after 4 p.m. Northbound traffic will be detoured to Rockledge Road to continue north on McDonald Drive. Southbound McDonald Drive traffic will also be detoured to Rockledge Road to continue south on Iowa Street.

• Utility crews are installing a new water line on Hilltop Drive from Ninth Street to Oxford Road. During the project, there will be temporary road closures on Hilltop Drive. The projected completion date for the project is May 29.

• Demolition and construction activities have started on a new apartment complex south of 11th Street between Mississippi and Indiana streets. Existing public on-street parking on the south side of 11th Street, the east side of Mississippi Street and the west side of Indiana Street will not be available. The project is expected to last through July 2016.

• A project is underway to construct a new diamond interchange at Kansas Highway 10 and Bob Billings Parkway/15th Street. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday. At this time, there are minimal motorist impacts, but the work has caused a need to detour the South Lawrence Trafficway trail between Sixth Street and Bob Billings Parkway.
