City snow removal and road treatment in high gear on Sunday

Twenty-four-hour operations for snow are still in effect in the city of Lawrence.

On Sunday morning, street maintenance crews continue to focus on treatment of roadways and plowing efforts throughout residential neighborhoods in Lawrence. Major thoroughfares and roadways have been treated and plowed multiple times.

City crews will continue to work through the residential areas today and remain on duty to monitor for re-freezing and treat slick conditions.

The National Weather Service in Topeka’s forecast for Monday calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 38. Light east winds will become southeast at 10 to 15 mph in the morning. On Monday night, expect a chance of rain or freezing drizzle before 10 p.m., then there is a 60 percent chance of rain.
