Kansas track claims eight wins at Classic

Seven NCAA top-10 performances — including a pair of victories from junior Sydney Conley — highlighted Kansas University’s first track and field meet of 2015, the Bill Easton Classic on Friday inside Anschutz Sports Pavilion.

The Jayhawk men and women picked up victories in eight events.

Conley won the long jump and 60-meter dash. She leapt 5.92 meters (19 feet, 51/4 inches), and won the 60 in 7.47 seconds. Both marks were in the top 10 of the national rankings.

Kansas’ other event winners Friday: Nashia Baker, women’s 3,000, 10:05.59; Josh Munsch, men’s 3,000, 8:18.48; men’s distance medley relay (Munsch, Matthew Anyiwo, Adel Yoonis, James Wilson), 10;12.40; men’s 4X400 relay (James Wilson, Tre Daniels, Michael Stigler, Kenneth McCuin), 3:17.33; Nick Meyer, men’s pole vault, 5.2 meters; and Anastasiya Muchkayev, women’s shot put, 16.36 meters (53-81/4).

Kansas will travel to Manhattan on Saturday to face Kansas State and Wichita State in a triangular.
