Bedore tapped top sportswriter

Gary Bedore of the Journal-World has been named Kansas sportswriter of the year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

The NSSA recognizes one writer and one broadcaster from each state each year. Mike Kennedy, voice of Wichita State basketball, was named broadcaster of the year in Kansas.

Bedore also won the award in 2007. The Journal-World’s Tom Keegan won the award the past two years. Bedore will be recognized at the 56th Annual NSSA Awards banquet, June 8 in Salisbury, North Carolina. Association membership consists of more than 1,100 U.S. sportscasters and sportswriters.
