Lawrence Transit System to host public meetings on service changes

The Lawrence Transit System is hosting three open house meetings next week to discuss service changes.

Lawrence residents are invited to share with officials their opinions on current bus services from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Transit Office, 933 New Hampshire St., and from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd.

Because route adjustments are typically made just once a year, “now is the time to share comments and suggestions,” transit administrator Robert Nugent said in a news release.

Proposed service changes include:

? Route five changing how it serves East Hills Business Park.

? Route nine will serve Rock Chalk Park instead of route two.

? Route 27 will serve 31st and Haskell streets.

? Route 41 will extend service to the Kansas Union.

Those who cannot attend a meeting can send comments to info@lawrencetransit.org or mail them to Lawrence Transit System, P.O. Box 708, Lawrence, KS 66044. Comments will be accepted until March 31.
