Kansas City, Mo. ? E’lease Stafford had 22 points, and Olivia Lemus added 19 as Lawrence High’s girls basketball team evened its record at 1-1 with a 64-51 victory Monday over Barstow (Mo.).

“Good team win for us,” LHS coach Jeff Dickson said. “That is a scrappy, well-coached team. It was awesome to see E’lease and Olivia step up in a big way.”

Lemus was 11-for-11 at the free throw line, and freshman Chisom Ajekwu nearly had a triple-double, finishing with nine points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks.

The Lions will travel to Shawnee Heights at 7 p.m. Friday.
