Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging allocates $1.3 million to nonprofits

The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging is allocating more than $1.3 million in federal and state funds during the 2016 fiscal year to 14 senior service providers across Douglas, Jefferson and Shawnee counties.

The providers offer services in transportation, information, meal delivery, legal assistance and much more.

Douglas County Senior Services will receive $127,793, and Lawrence Meals on Wheels will get $52,701.

The JAAA also allocated:

• $23,313 to East Topeka Senior Center

• $582,424 to Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging

• $30,000 to Jefferson County Service Organization

• $15,460 to Kansas Legal Services

• $408,213 to Meals on Wheels of Shawnee and Jefferson Counties

• $75,000 to Mom’s Meals

• $17,374 to Papan’s Landing Senior Center

• $110,459 to Pool of Providers Contracted (A Helping Hand Home Care, Jefferson County Health Department, Prestige Home Care, Trinity In-Home Care)

• $6,061 to Topeka LULAC Senior Center
