LHS baseball stumbles, 5-4

? Blue Valley North scored a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Lawrence, 5-4, on Saturday in high school baseball.

The Lions led 4-3 entering the seventh, but BV North drew a pair of two-out walks prior to a game-winning hit.

“We just need to close games out and have more competitive at-bats throughout the game,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said.

A double by Jacob Unruh and a triple by Michael Sinks (2-for-3) were among the offensive highlights for Lawrence.

Nick Haynes started for the Lions and pitched four innings.

“He was very effective,” Stoll said. “He kept the ball down and did a really nice job for us.”

The Lions (1-4) will host Olathe Northwest at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
