Today in Lawrence: Lovely weather, buck night at the pool, music and movies

From 5 p.m. to closing on the first Friday of the month, it's only to swim and play on the slides and water features at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.

Weather

It’s going to cool down a little, with a high of 57 today and rain forecast for the afternoon. Saturday will see sunny skies and a high of 66, and Sunday will be partly sunny with a high of 66 as well. So hunt for your eggs with confidence that there won’t be any rain on your Easter parade!

Buck Night at the pool

It’s the first Friday of the month, and that means it’s “Buck Night” at the Indoor Aquatic Center! From 5 p.m. to closing, it’s only $1 to swim and play on the slides and water features at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive. Bring the kids and have a wet, watery good time!

Undergrad recital

The KU School of Music will have its Undergraduate Honor Recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 130 Murphy Hall, 1530 Naismith Drive. Several instruments will be featured, including piano, trombone and bassoon. The concert is free and open to the public.

Time for ragtime

Love the old-fashioned style of ragtime music? Appease your need for ragtime with Saturday Afternoon Ragtime from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Watkins Museum of History, 1047 Massachusetts St. The event is great for the whole family!

45-year reign

After 45 years of performing in this venue, Lawrence’s long-standing country band Arnie Johnson & The Midnight Special will be playing their last dance at the Columbus Hall (formerly called the Knights of Columbus Hall) before it closes. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the band will take the stage from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Columbus Hall, 2206 E. 23rd St.

Egg-stra butter on your popcorn

Every year, Liberty Hall goes to “church” with a showing of Monty Python’s “Life of Brian,” 7 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. The irreverent film about a “messiah” of sorts is considered a cult classic.
