Aquahawks openings: The Aquahawks are always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. Vintage baseball: The Second Memorial Travis Sanders Vintage Baseball Game will be 2-4 p.m., April 25 at the Broken Arrow baseball field. Featuring the Emporia Vintage baseball team vs. the Sluggers for Sanders, it’s a fundraiser for an educational fund for Sanders’ nephews Houstyn and Myric Carnagie.

DCABA/Ice/Heinrich baseball: The 2015 DCABA Leagues are filling up. We currently have team space available in the U8, U12 and U14 divisions. Vaulter fundraiser: Jordan Scott, a former Kansas University pole vaulter now training in Lawrence, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance his quest to compete in the 2016 Olympics. Umpires needed: Lawrence Parks & Recreation is looking for youth baseball/softball umpires (Rec, & DCABA). Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and possess background and experience in the sport of baseball and/or softball as well as having experience in working with children. Volleyball tournament: A volleyball tournament will be held April 25 for Jamie Giersch, diagnosed with spindel cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Pitch, Hit & Run: The Lawrence Pitch, Hit & Run will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth at noon April 4 at Holcom Blue. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2015 MLB All-Star game. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Shoreline Shuffle: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the seventh annual Shoreline Shuffle 5k (3.1 miles) Trail Run on Saturday, May 2, on Clinton Lake’s north shore trails. The Shoreline Shuffle begins and ends at the southwest corner of Campground One, in Clinton Lake State Park. The marked course includes difficult rocky, root-bound trails; smooth, flat, easy trails, scenic lake views; and long shady stretches through old-growth forest. Walkers are welcome. Wheelhawks: The Kansas Wheelhawks Invitational Wheelchair Basketball Tournament was held March 28-29 at Sports Pavilion Lawrence. The Wheelhawks swept all five games to win the tournament. Basketball camp: The Lawrence High Lady Lion basketball program will offer two summer camps for all girls interested in playing basketball. Session 1 will consist of incoming freshmen through incoming seniors. It will run 8-11:30 a.m. June 1-5. Cost is $65, which includes T-shirt and insurance. Team camp will be at Liberty Memorial Middle School. Session 2 will consist of kindergarten through eighth-graders and run 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 1-5 at Central.
