Former KU quarterback arrested for OUI on homecoming weekend

Former Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing greets a couple of Jayhawk fans on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Memorial Stadium.

A former Kansas University star quarterback was arrested on suspicion of OUI over KU’s homecoming weekend.

Todd M. Reesing, 27, was arrested about 3:15 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Ohio Street on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, according to booking information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He posted bond and was released from jail later that morning.

Reesing did make it to Memorial Stadium for Saturday’s 3 p.m. homecoming football game against Texas, which KU lost 23-0.

In 2008, Reesing led KU’s football team to victory over Virginia Tech in the FedEx Orange Bowl.

Reesing was on the team from 2006 to 2009, beating out Kerry Meier for KU’s starting quarterback job in spring 2007. In Reesing’s first two-and-a-half seasons as a starter, KU went 25-6.

Reesing has not been formally charged in court in connection with the OUI. His first appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15, according to Sheriff’s Office records.

The Sheriff’s Office listed his address as Austin, Texas.
