Decades after receiving their diplomas, four former Lions will be celebrated once more at Lawrence High School this weekend as the new inductees of the Hall of Honor.

The Lawrence Lions Alumni Association will induct the hall’s 21st class of distinguished alumni at 2 p.m. Sunday inside the LHS rotunda at 1901 Louisiana St. The event is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow the ceremony.

“We’ve got a firefighter, a spinal surgeon, a singer-songwriter and (a TV writer-producer),” LLAA president Patty Kennedy said. “That’s a pretty diverse group, I think.”

The inductees are:

• Dr. Mark Bernhardt, class of 1975. Bernhardt is the lead spinal surgeon at Dickson-Dively Orthopaedics in Leawood. He is also the chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.

• Corinne Brinkerhoff, class of 1998. Brinkerhoff has been nominated for an Emmy Award and a Writers Guild of America Award for her work on “The Good Wife.” She has also worked on “Boston Legal,” “Elementary,” “Reckless” and the upcoming “Jane the Virgin.”

• William “Bill” Brubaker, class of 1970. After serving as a firefighter in Lawrence for more than 30 years, Brubaker joined the Kansas Division of Emergency Management in 2005 to instruct recruits and coordinate statewide search and rescue teams. He also responded to disaster areas in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.

• Sarah Buxton, class of 1998. Buxton, a country music singer and songwriter released her self-titled studio album in 2010. Over the course of her career, she has worked with Kenny Rogers, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban and Cowboy Troy.
