Style Scout: Charles Rice-Davis
Name: Charles Rice-Davis
Age: 29
Hometown: Chicago
Time in Lawrence: A month
Relationship status: In one
Occupation: I teach in the French department at KU.
Dream job: It’s fun doing what I’m doing right now.
What were you doing when scouted? I’m in between classes right now.
Describe your style: I’m just trying to get a classic but not-too-serious look. If I’m wearing one serious thing, like peaked lapels or a double-breasted jacket, I try to balance that with a knit tie or jeans.
Fashion trends you love: I like seeing a lot of people wearing linen jackets, or using different materials like wool and angora. Cuff links are very cool too.
Fashion trends you hate: I don’t always like the super-slim-fit cut suits. Sometimes you have grown men looking like little kids in them.
Fashion influences: In terms of inspiration, I look at a lot of old photographs from the 19th century or from my research that may seep in a little bit [into my style].
What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? I’d like more places to be open earlier and later. I’d also like to see a place where I could grab groceries downtown, and some Italian butchers and tailors.
Tattoos or piercings: None
Whom do people say you look like? Clive Owen
What type of music do you like? Classical
Tell us a secret: I don’t do enough introspection but I dig the Real Housewives (TV series). All of them, especially the French one!
