KU men’s golf tied for third at Ram Masters Invitational

? Kansas University junior golfer Ben Welle shot a first-round, 1-under 69 and a second-round 70 on Day One of the Ram Masters Invitational on Monday at the Fort Collins Country Club.

Welle (139) was in second place and teammate Chase Hanna (75-68–143) is tied for eighth.

Drew McCullough of Wyoming leads at 138.

“We played fairly solid, as the course was playing hard and firm,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “We played really well in the last eight holes.”

As a team, the Jayhawks were tied for third at 576, six strokes behind leader Colorado State.

KU’s other golfers: Spencer Painton, tied for 20th, 146; Connor Peck, tied for 29th, 147; Daniel Hudson, tied for 42nd, 149; and Brock Drogosch, tied for 45th, 150.
