Veritas taps Temple new athletic director

Veritas Christian School announced Brett Temple as its new athletic director Friday.

Temple, who graduated from Kansas University and interned with the Jayhawks’ strength-and-conditioning department, has been the Veritas football strength-and-conditioning coach for the past three seasons. He also runs his own sports-performance business and teaches a new weightlifting class at Veritas.

“I’m really excited,” Temple said. “I love the school. I love the kids that are there. I’ve worked with them before so I’m familiar with the faculty and coaching staffs that have been there before because I’ve done their summer weights. Honestly, it’s really fun to be a part of a great school, and a growing school at that.”

Temple replaces Gary Hammer as athletic director, and Temple’s top goal is to add more participants to the athletic programs at Veritas.

“The Number One thing is growing the athletic program — creating a great athletic program,” Temple said. “Our school is really great academically, so for these kids to get an opportunity to excel in athletics is going to be great to see, and that’s a goal that I have in mind.”
