From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 28, 1974:

• The Woodcreek apartment complex, formerly Hope Plaza, was to be sold by the federal government for $1,213,000, according to Jim Smith, Federal Housing Administration director of housing management. Fred Davenport III of Sioux City, Iowa, was the apparent top bidder for the four-year-old complex at 225 N. Michigan. Smith said he expected few significant management changes at the 124-unit complex, but the exterior was to be repainted and carpeting installed in the living rooms and halls as conditions of the contract. The complex had been a subsidized housing project, but the subsidized aspect had ended Oct. 1 following financial problems and subsequent foreclosure.
• A station wagon was demolished and a house damaged in a weekend accident in which the driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver, according to his own report, had started to back the vehicle from the driveway of his home when the accelerator stuck. The car had then traveled across the street and struck a neighbor’s house, where it caused damages estimated at $750. The 1970 model station wagon was listed as demolished.
