Bears end KU baseball streak

? Missouri State sure seems to have Kansas University’s number, at least in baseball.

The Bears beat the Jayhawks, 5-3, on Wednesday night, bringing the Jayhawks’ winning streak to an end at seven.

The previous team to beat KU before that seven-game streak? Yeah, Missouri State — 6-5 back on April 23 at Hoglund Ballpark.

In the latest meeting, the Jayhawks (30-21) managed just six hits off three pitchers.

Drew Morovick (7-3) took the loss after allowing two earned runs off two hits over 22/3 innings in relief of starter Jon Hander.

Justin Protacio went 3-for-4 with two runs for the Jayhawks, and Dakota Smith drove in two runs.

Missouri State improved to 21-25.

Kansas will host a three-game Big 12 series with West Virginia beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
