Lawrence mixed martial arts fighter Zak Bucia defeated Mauricio Alonso to defend his Dragon House welterweight title belt Saturday.

Bucia won by an armbar submission in four rounds in the Dragon House 16 main event at Kezar Pavillion.

The 2003 Lawrence High graduate improved to 12-5 overall, and 4-3 in sanctioned fights.

Bucia was featured in a Journal-World article on April 30.
