• The Kansas University Small Business Development Center will host a free seminar for start-up entrepreneurs from 6 to 8 p.m. April 2 at the center’s office, at 646 Vermont St., Suite 200. The event will focus on a number of topics including permits, licenses, funding, taxes, marketing and writing business plans.

• Kansas University will co-sponsor the Kansas chapter of the American Planning Association’s spring symposium March 28 at the Eldridge Hotel. Titled “Sustainability: Doing it the Kansas Way,” the event will feature presentations on topics including housing market sustainability, online tools, a walking tour of the Lawrence Public Library and a bus ride showcasing Lawrence’s sites for urban agriculture.
