• Lawrence Automotive Diagnostics will host an event April 23 during which people can bring documents to be shredded and recycled by Cintas Document Management. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2858 Four Wheel Drive. Besides paper, CDs, floppy disks, videotapes and hard drives also can be destroyed, but must be kept separately and cannot be shredded on site.

• A new sports performance training center and mixed martial arts academy, Omni Method Gym, will open March 29 at 721 E. 9th St. It was created by mixed martial arts experts Zak Bucia and Matthew Siahaan, along with sports performance coach Scott McCreevy.
