KU baseball home opener pushed back again

The winter storm that swept the Midwest this past weekend forced the Kansas University baseball program to move its home opener against Creighton back from Tuesday, March 4 to Wednesday, March 12.

First pitch on March 12 is slated for 3 p.m.

The schedule change marked the second time this season that the Jayhawks (11-1) have had to move back their home opener. The Jayhawks were supposed to open their home slate on Feb. 28, against Houston Baptist but that series was moved to Texas because of inclement weather, as well.

KU travels to Stanford for a three-game series this weekend. By the time they finally do open at home — provided the March 12 game goes off without a hitch — Ritch Price’s club will have played 15 straight away from Lawrence to open the 2014 season.

Season-ticket holders and fans that have purchased single-game tickets for Tuesday’s contest may use those tickets for the rescheduled date, March 12.

KU’s red-hot 11-1 start marks the best in school history.
