Sans Facon's installation Limelight replaces two conventional street light heads with outdoor theater spotlights pointing to the same single spot, creating an open invitation for passers-by to perform, transforming the street into a stage. The installation will run from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Museum and a movie

The Watkins Museum of History at 1047 Massachusetts St. will show Centron movies and the Joe’s Bakery documentary from 6 to 8 p.m. Add fresh popcorn from the Mass Street Sweet Shop and you have yourself a movie night.

There’s a new kid in town: Art Emergency, 721 E. Ninth St., is a brand new art gallery in the East Lawrence Art District. The gallery will have fine art, street art and sculptures from local artists. You’ll find Art Emergency in the giant green warehouse on the corner of Ninth and Delaware streets, next to Star Signs. Live music and adult beverages will round out the evening.

In the limelight

For the kids

Just in time for Saturday morning cartoons, Ernest & Celestine tells the tale of a young mouse in an underground land where cautionary tales of bears are told and all mice are destined to become dentists. This film for all ages was an Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Film. It will play at 10 a.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center main stage. Tickets are $6.

Comic book Sunday

Love comics? Find out more at All Ages, All-Inclusive Comics: Listen to comic pros celebrate and recommend the diverse world of comics. Jai Nitz, Dennis Hopeless, Josh Dysart and Jason Aaron will discuss their craft and the comics they love at 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center Black Box Theater. The comics discussion continues at 2 p.m. with comic book writers Nitz (Dream Thief, Green Hornet, Blue Beetle) and Hopeless (X-Men Season 1, Avengers Arena, The Answer) as they talk about how their roots propelled them into their current jobs. Both events are free.
