The Lawrence Raiders had been sound defensively for much of the summer, but four errors played a big role in the team’s 7-2 loss to Next Level Baseball, Tuesday at Lawrence High.

“(Defense has) kind of been a strong point early in the season, but we’ll definitely need to clean things up,” coach Brad Romme said.

After trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the third, the Raiders cut the deficit in half with a two-run third, but that would be as close as they would come.

The Raiders, 6-9, will be in action often for the rest of the week, with six games in three days. They will play at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Thursday-Saturday at Free State High.
