Former Kansas University guard Xavier Henry has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, worth $1,063,384, ESPNLosAngeles.com reported Friday. Henry, 23, averaged a career-best 10.0 points and 2.7 rebounds for the Lakers last season.

He had his season cut short because of a torn ligament in his left wrist and a knee problem that also required surgery.

“Prove em wrong again #LA” Henry wrote on Twitter on Friday.

Wizards ink Gooden: Former KU forward Drew Gooden re-signed with Washington on Friday, the Washington Post reported. Terms were not disclosed.

The 12-year veteran signed a 10-day contract with Washington last February after Nene suffered a knee injury. In 32 games (including postseason), Gooden averaged 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds. He averaged 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22 regular-season games. For his career, Gooden is averaging 11.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Summer league update: Former KU center Jeff Withey scored nine points with seven rebounds and three assists for New Orleans in a 97-78 loss to Minnesota on Friday at the Las Vegas summer league.

Withey was 3-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in 29 minutes.

Former KU guard Andrew Wiggins was held out of Cleveland’s summer-league finale against Miami. Wiggins and fellow No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett warmed up and dressed, but the Cavs said both had already given the team all it needed to see in four previous games.

Several outlets reported Thursday and Friday that the Cavaliers had decided to make Wiggins — and even Bennett — available in trade talks with Minnesota for Kevin Love. But two people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that the Cavaliers’ position has remained unchanged and that no offer including Wiggins has been made. The people requested anonymity because neither team was publicly commenting on trade talks.
