Veritas boys fall in Braymer semis

? Chad Stieben scored 25 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Veritas Christian’s boys basketball team from absorbing a 66-60 loss to Tina-Avalon on Thursday night in the Braymer tournament semifinals.

Veritas entered the fourth quarter with a 47-41 lead, but Tina-Avalon outscored the Eagles 25-13 in the final period.

Winston Wiebe added 10 points for the Eagles, Mark Wienhold scored nine, and Drake Napier scored eight.

“I thought we got better tonight,” Veritas coach Blake Mudd said. “We fought really hard. We just couldn’t finish it.”

Veritas (5-8) will play for third place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
