Groundbreaking set for new Daisy Hill residence halls

Kansas University has set a construction plan and next week will celebrate a groundbreaking for a $47.8 million student housing project.

The two new five-story halls will each hold 350 students in two- and four-person suites. Construction is set to be completed by July 2015, and the first students will move in that August.

The nearly 50-year-old McCollum Hall, which the new halls will replace, will be razed in summer 2015.

Beginning this September students will be able to sign contracts online to live in the new halls for the 2015-16 school year.

KU will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 3:30 p.m. March 5 at the Lied Center Pavilion.
