KU to hold symposium on the fate of rural communities
The future livelihoods and survival of rural towns will be the subject of a Kansas University symposium this week.
On Friday the KU School of Law will hold a conference titled “Preventing the Ghost Town: What Rural Communities Need to Do to Survive in the Modern Economy.” The event will draw speakers from around the country, including professors of law and sociology as well as Wes Jackson, president of the Land Institute in Salina.
The conference runs from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Green Hall on the Lawrence campus. The event has reached capacity, but day-of registrations may be available as space allows.
