Love Your Library Project offers unique opportunity to make mark on new building

Lawrence Public Library is asking kids and grown-ups alike to come out and decorate tiles this weekend for the Love Your Library Tile Project to make their mark on the new library building.

Kids can come out to the current library location on New Hampshire to create a piece of artwork that will then be transferred to a ceramic tile. The tiles will be installed in the family restrooms of the new building, set to be completed this summer.

“The end result will be a fabulous community mosaic for the new building,” said Kathleen Morgan, director of the Lawrence Public Library Foundation. “I find it to be something very Lawrencian and whimsical.”

Morgan is excited for the project and asks anyone who can to come out and help make the new building special.

“We would be excited to welcome as many people as we can fit in the building,” Morgan said.

However, there are only 500 tiles available to decorate, so if you want to make your mark you better get out there early.

The Love Your Library Tile Project is being sponsored by the Library Foundation, and all proceeds from the event will be matched by grant funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Proceeds will be used to help fund literacy programs at the library.
