Veritas girls rout Flint Hills

? Veritas Christian’s girls basketball team raced to an 18-point first-quarter lead and defeated Flint Hills Christian, 47-19, on Saturday for the championship of the Shea Invitational.

Tori Huslig led Veritas with 18 points, Holly Scott scored seven points, Alyssa Krestan had six points and nine rebounds, and Emma Wilson added six points.

Huslig was named to the all-tournament team.

“We did improve every game,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “I’m just really proud of the effort today. We guarded well. Winning the tournament was a great accomplishment for these young girls.”

Veritas (3-0) will host Topeka Heritage Christian on Saturday.
