Two-alarm fire damages home in North Lawrence

Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire Sunday morning in North Lawrence. The call was dispatched at 12:51 a.m. to the 800 block of Lincoln Street. No injuries were reported. A search of the house found that no one was home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire this morning in North Lawrence.

The call was dispatched at 12:51 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Lincoln Street.

Arriving fire crews reported flames visible from the roof of the two story home and a power line down in the backyard. A second alarm was immediately ordered, bringing in additional manpower and equipment.

Incident command ordered all firefighters out of the house at 1:35 a.m. to await the arrival of Westar Energy to disconnect electrical service before returning inside.

Westar arrived at the scene just before 2 a.m.. After disconnecting power, firefighters were able to go back inside the house to put the fire out.

Interior crews reported the fire burned a hole in the floor on the second level, at the top of the stairs.

As of 3:10 a.m. the fire was under control and crews were putting water on a few remaining hot spots.

No injuries were reported. Searches of the house found that no one was home at the time of the fire.
