Hallmark and Capitol Federal executives honored by KU business school

On Friday executives at two prominent regional businesses will receive awards from the Kansas University School of Business.

The business school’s 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards will go to Don Hall Jr., president and CEO of Hallmark Cards, and John Dicus, president and CEO of Capitol Federal Savings Bank.

The awards are meant to recognize Hall and Dicus for “their dedication to business excellence, community service and commitment to KU,” according to the university.

Hall earned his MBA from KU in 1983 and took over the top leadership position at Hallmark in 2002 after working in his family’s company since 1971.

Dicus received his bachelor’s degree from KU in 1983 and his MBA in 1984 before going to work for Capitol Federal in 1985. He became president of the company in 1996.

Nominations for the awards come from alumni and the business school dean’s advisory board.

Hall and Dicus will be honored at a private reception April 25 at The Oread hotel.
