Iowa baseball upends Kansas

? Seven runs off 14 hits were not enough for Kansas University’s baseball team Wednesday in a 12-7 loss to Iowa.

KU (21-13) sent the Big 12 leader in wins, Drew Morovick (6-2), to the mound to face the Hawkeyes (18-12) in an attempt to split the two-game series. Morovick was unable to get through the third inning, yielding eight runs off 10 hits.

Senior center fielder Tucker Tharp went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, while senior catcher Ka’iana Eldredge was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Sophomore third baseman Colby Wright went 2-for-4 and hit his first career home run in the ninth inning. Wright finished with a career-high three RBIs.

Junior designated hitter Connor McKay hit his sixth home run of the season.

The Jayhawks resume Big 12 play this weekend as they play host to TCU. The series opener is 6 p.m. Friday at Hoglund Ballpark.
