Kansas softball swept by OU

? Kansas University managed just seven hits on the day and was swept by Oklahoma in a Big 12 softball doubleheader on Saturday at Marita Hynes Stadium.

No. 15-ranked OU won the opener, 8-3, and the nightcap, 8-0, to improve to 28-8 overall, 7-0 Big 12. KU fell to 28-13, 3-3.

In Game One, OU hit three home runs in the first two innings and had four two-run frames. Kansas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Oklahoma answered with a two-run home run by Shelby Pendley in the bottom of the first.

A two-run second — solo shots by Javen Henson and Kady Self — gave the Sooners all the offense they’d need.

Kansas managed just five hits off two Oklahoma pitchers, including winner Kelsey Stevens.

Kelsey Kessler (17-9) took the loss.

Stevens (20-5) threw a complete-game two-hitter in Game Two. Senior Ashley Newman had both of Kansas’ hits.

KU will travel Tuesday to UMKC.
