Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ‘Light the Night Walk’ scheduled for Saturday

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will hold the Light the Night Walk on Saturday to help raise money and awareness of the fight against cancer.

The event begins at South Park in Lawrence at 6 p.m. After games, entertainment and food, the walk will begin. Participants carry different colored lanterns, with survivors bearing white lanterns, supporters red and those who have lost loved ones carrying gold. More than 500 in Lawrence contributed to last year’s walk. Similar walks in 185 cities across the continent raised a total of $51 million through in 2012. Money raised goes to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s disease.
