Democrat Abbie Hodgson today announced that she is running for the House District 46 seat, currently held by House Minority Leader Paul Davis, D-Lawrence, who is running for governor.

Hodgson, 31, has been active in Democratic Party politics, and held several positions in the administrations of former governors Kathleen Sebelius and Mark Parkinson, both Democrats.

Hodgson teaches in the communications department at Kansas University while completing her doctoral degree in political communication. She also operates a political consulting firm called Prairie Fire Consulting and is secretary of the Douglas County Democratic Party.
