Gov. Robert Docking and U.S. Sen. Robert Dole joined a crowd of about 250 people in Hoch Auditorium to attend the rededication and open house ceremonies at KANU-FM radio this week. The Kansas University radio station had been rededicated to the memory of the late Fred M. Harris, a member of the Kansas Board of Regents for two terms, and to the purpose of providing arts and informational programming to the people of Kansas. The ceremony had marked the completion of a two-year, $110,000 remodeling project of the station’s studios and equipment. KU Chancellor Archie Dykes spoke on the role of public radio in the university, and guest Susan Stamberg of National Public Radio discussed the relationship of stations with the parent organization. The ceremony was followed by a brunch and tours of Broadcasting Hall, immediately west of Hoch.
