Topeka ? The Lawrence Raiders fell to the Topeka Golden Giants, 8-2, in their baseball season opener Tuesday night.

The Raiders, playing a team consisting mostly of college players, received run-scoring singles from C.J. Stuever and Anthony Miele.

Shane Willoughby’s double was the only extra-base hit for Lawrence, and he scored one of the two Raiders runs. Adam Rea scored the Raiders’ other run.

The Raiders (0-1) play in the Maple Woods Tournament beginning Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.
