Lawrence High baseball rallies for win in Oklahoma

? Lawrence High’s baseball team erased a seven-run deficit with a nine-run sixth inning and defeated Chocktaw, 9-7, on Saturday in the Edmond Tournament.

Drew Green belted a two-run home run, and Shane Willoughby hit a run-scoring triple in the Lions’ big sixth inning.

“We just absolutely came alive in the sixth,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “Our bats were nonexistent for two-thirds of the game. Then in the sixth, we came alive and started hitting some balls hard. It was really a great inning, obviously. It was really two different games. I was really proud of how they fought back.”

Brandon Bell (1-0) pitched 22/3 innings and picked up the victory. Willoughby pitched the final two innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four.

The Lions (2-0) won their first game of the tournament, 11-2, against Edmond on Friday. Green also hit a homer in that game. Adam Rea picked up the win.

LHS will play Thursday at Olathe Northwest.
