City offering home rehabilitation loans

To qualifyfor the comprehensive rehabilitation loan

• The applicant must have owned the property for at least a year at the time of application.

• The property must contain no more than two dwelling units.

• The applicant must make all the repairs necessary to qualify the building for minimum property rehabilitation standards.

• The applicant can not have previously received a comprehensive rehabilitation loan.

The city of Lawrence is offering loan funding for home rehabilitations, including foundation, wiring, plumbing and roofing repairs, as well as for painting.

According to a press release from the city, the funds, provided through the Community Development Block Grant, will go toward rehabilitating homes “to help maintain affordable, safe and healthy housing for the community.”
